Usborne Books Name Change To PaperPie

Have you heard? Usborne Books changed its name!
Educational Development Corporation Announces Rebranding of Home Business Division to PaperPie
In December 2022, EDC announced (view announcement on Newsfile) Usborne Books & More is being rebranded and will be referred to under its new name PaperPie. The company is more officially known as Home Party Division and is under the ownership of the Educational Development Corporation. Confusing? Yes, a bit.
Usborne Books & More (UBAM) is a direct sales company that was created March 1, 1989 that has distributed children’s books and educational products to consumers, schools and libraries. The UBAM has received numerous recognitions over the years from Fortune magazine for “The Best Small Companies in America” and has been included in “America’s 100 Fastest Growing Small Companies”.
While they may have changed their name, they will still create products and opportunities that enrich, inspire, and nourish the mind, heart, and imagination. They believe stories are made to share. They transform lives – one story, one book, one family, one child at a time.
Fun Fact – the name PaperPie comes from the combination of “paper and pie”, paper reflecting the medium of communication and pie as something you share.
PaperPie‘s site has a special note along with a video you can watch that reflects this name change stating, “Due to a agreement update with Usborne Publishing in the UK, Usborne Books & More needed to change their name to better reflect their products. PaperPie offers Usborne books, Kane Miller books – and now SmartLab Toys.” (view their post here)
Per Craig White, President and Chief Executive Officer, “Our Home Party Division generates over 85% of our Company’s sales. We are launching our new branding, PaperPie, which is a better reflection of our full product offering, which has grown beyond books. Replacing the name Usborne Books & More (UBAM) with PaperPie, a new name that more accurately captures all of the products that we sell…”
This new division known as PaperPie includes Usborne Publishing, Ltd.; Kane Miller Books; SmartLab Toys; and Learning Wrap-Ups. Heather Cobb, Chief Sales and Marketing Officer stated, “PaperPie is literally ‘filled’ with the culture and values of our Home Business Division, specifically focused on children’s literacy and learning. Our new brand, PaperPie, better defines who we are and what we represent to our customers and their families.”
The Educational Development Corporation (EDC)
